Famous RK Zagreb from Croatia registered as club No. 40 for participation in the 7th ordinary assembly of FORUM CLUB HANDBALL (FCH), taking place on 28.1.2012 in Belgrade/Serbia.

28.12.2012: EHF and EHFM confirm participation in the 7th FORUM CLUB HANDBALL assembly

European Handball Federation (EHF) and European Handball Federation Marketing GmbH confirmed their participation in the 7th ordinary assembly of FORUM CLUB HANDBALL eV. Beside EHF and EHFM the European Professional Handball Leagues Association (EPHLA) and the TOYOTA Handball-Bundesliga (HBL) will be present as guests.

The second part of the FCH meeting will deal with the structure of the various European Cups in the future. HBL insists that European Cup matches shall be played on weekdays. This position is supported be EPHLA. The assembly will discuss the merger of EHF Cup and Cup Winners Cup and the future of Regional leagues. GB

All European Top Clubs are here with invited to the 7th ordinary General Assembly of FORUM CLUB HANDBALL (FCH), taking place on the final weekend of the EHF Euro 2012 in Belgrade/SRB.

This invitation is directed to the

  • top 24 clubs of the VELUX EHF Championsleague (CL) season 2011/12
  • top 16 clubs of the EHF Cup season 2011/12
  • top 16 clubs of the Cup-Winners Cup season 2011/12
  • top 16 clubs of the Challenge Cup season 2011/12

and all National champions of season 2010/11.

9.12.2011: German TOYOTA Handball-Bundesliga (HBL) will schedule league matches for season 2012/13 on weekends

The assembly of clubs of the TOYOTA Handball-Bundesliga (HBL) decided unanimously on 1st December 2012 that league matches as of season 12/13 will be played basically
on weekends. A re-scheduling of league matches in favor of European Cup matches will ‘basically not possible’.

This information was passed to the European Handball Federation (EHF) with a long list of arguments.

The scheduling of the VELUX EHF Championsleague (CL) matches during the weekend significantly limits the interests of the majority of European clubs. If league matches are scheduled during the week, less tickets are sold and younger people are not able to attend the matches. Sponsors are annoyed about the permanent changes. The sale of the rights for the National league is more difficult due to a lack of clear calendar. On the other hand a clear calendar will raise the TV ratings of Handball in all competitions.

FORUM CLUB HANDBALL (FCH) will discuss this issue during its 7th ordinary General Assembly on 28th Janurary 2012 in Belgrade. GB

4.10.2011: FORUM CLUB HANDBALL becomes legal body

Today the 6th FORUM CLUB HANDBALL (FCH), the General Assembly of European Top Handball Clubs, decided to become a legal body. The Non-Profit-Organisation (NPO) will have the status of a German ‘Verein’ (Club). The board was confirmed as elected during the meeting on 29.5.2010. All former decision of FCH were appoved. More details will be published during the next days. GB

3.10.2011 GROUP CLUB HANDBALL EEIG dissolved

On 3.10.2011 the General Assembly of GROUP CLUB HANDBALL EEIG (GCH) decided to dissolve the European Economic Interest Group. Dr. Gerd Butzeck was appointed as Liquidator. The General Assembly expressed the wish that FORUM CLUB HANDBALL (FCH) shall take over the tasks of GCH in the future. More details will follow shortly. GB

26.9.2011: TOYOTA-Bundesliga and DHB signed new contract about cooperation until 2012

Today TOYOTA Handball-Bundesliga and the German Handball Federation (DHB) announced a contract about a long term cooperation until 2016. The contract contains new and interesting elements: for the time the release of players to the national team is limited to 60 days per year (Olympic years 75 days). The German Federation will support the wish of TOYOTA HBL to reduce the number of big tournaments from 5 to 4 within one Olympic cycle (4 years) and to place all European Cup matches on weekdays.

According to the press release TOYOTA HBL will pay an anual fee to the German Federation for various services. The German federation will pay a fee for the release of players to the German National team. The contract expires on 30th June 2016. GB

16.9.2011: General Assemblies of GCH and FCH on 3rd and 4th October

The next General Assemblies of GCH and FCH will take place on 3rd (GCH) and 4th (FCH) October 2011 at Sheraton Hotel, Dusseldorf Airport.

The major topic of the FCH assembly will be the registration of the organisation as a Non-Profit-Organisation (NPO). All European Top Clubs (the last 24 clubs of the Velux-EHF Championsleage, last 16 of last seasons EHF-CUP, last 16 of last seasons Cup-Winners-Cup, last 8 of last years Challenge Cup and all reigning National Champions) will have possibility to register and become ordinary member. A copy of the draft of the statutes of the NPO has been sent to all concerned clubs today.

The board of GCH will propose to the GCH General Assembly the dissolution of the organisation – conditioned to the according decisions of FCH.

In the future FCH shall take over the tasks of GCH.

19.7.2011: European Club Association (ECA), Euroleague Basket and FORUM CLUB HANDBALL (FCH) met to discuss points of common interest

On 29.6.2011 representatives of ECA, Euroleague Basket and FCH met in order to discuss points of common interest. The participants exchanged information about the challenges in European Football, Basketball and Handball. GB

1.6.2011: GCH General Assembly comments on Brand statements

GCH declines the statements of German National Team Coach Heiner Brand, describing GCH Managing Director Gerd Butzeck as ‘dangerous with personal interests’.

Since 2006 Butzeck is successfully executing the resolutions of GCH. It is his task to represent the interests of European Top Handball Clubs in face of National Leagues, National, European and International Handball Federations. By nature the interests of clubs are sometimes in contrary to the mentioned organizations. Thanks to the work of GCH and of Gerd Butzeck a lot of aspects of European Club Handball have improved during the last 5 years.

We regret that Brand refused talks with the Managing Director of GCH in the past and hope that the relation will improve in the near future, as Brand is going to take over a leading management position in the German Federation in July 2011.
